Dining in Swansea: A Cultural Tour for Your Taste Buds

Throughout his life, Dylan's mother nurtured him with love and home cooking. The food she cooked for him would have been fresh, seasonal and sourced locally - today it would be called organic, farm-fresh or homemade. In the same vein as Florence Thomas, we have lovingly crafted a variety of ways in which you can sample your own slice of culinary life at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive.

A Child's Christmas in Wales Themed Afternoon Tea

A Child's Christmas in Wales Themed Afternoon Tea

Indulge in a slice of one of the finest British traditions and take the signature Afternoon Tea at Dylan's while listening to A Child's Christmas in Wales in the room where it was based. After a guided tour, guests can enjoy a bounty of beautiful home-baked pastries and teacakes, freshly baked scones with cream and strawberry preserve and a selection of succulent sandwiches whilst being served a hearty Welsh brew, served in a set of antique Edwardian china. And of course, there are Welsh cakes!

Edwardian Dinner

(£60 per person group of 4+, £65 per person group of 2-3)
With a piano, phonogram and games table our dinner party guests can relive a typical Edwardian evening before the advent of television - all the while also enjoying a 4-course menu of the very best produce that Swansea has to offer. Our sociable evening dinner parties can consist of just 2 people to up to 10 people with the evening starting at 6:30 pm with pre-dinner drinks and a tour of the house.  Food is prepared on site by celebrity chef Angela Horrell and is usually being served around 7:30 pm amidst the splendour of the front parlour. For those who truly want to get into the spirit of the era why not dress up in your best vintage evening wear? (Guests are to supply their own alcoholic drinks.)

‘Taste of Wales’ Hot Fork Buffet Lunch

(Prices from £25 per person)
With the help of the family maid Dylan's mam, Florrie, would make sure that a fine spread was on the table ready for Mr Thomas to come home to from school of a lunchtime. Delivering a true ‘Taste of Wales’ our lunch at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive is very popular with large families and groups. As always, the food is prepared from Florence Thomas’ own kitchen and served in the relaxed and atmospheric rooms of this 100-year-old home. (Guests are to supply their own alcoholic drinks.)

All of our menus accommodate special dietary needs. Sample menus are provided upon request.
